


In My View…. Photo Competition, Sulwath Connections
The 'In My View....' competition is your chance to capture on camera and in words your views of the people, the wildlife and the landscapes in Dumfries and Galloway that make it such a special place. The most stunning seasonal entries in each category will win a prizes and with an overall winner for the year winning a digital SLR.

Whether it’s striking scenery or an amazing close up the photographs can depict almost any subject that fit the following three categories;
A Working Countryside, Enjoying the Outdoors, or A Fresh Look at Nature.
We are looking forward to receiving those great photos from you!

- You can only enter this competition here online.
- Photos must be digitally uploaded to the website in JPEG format.
- Photos may be edited by the entrant i.e. may be manipulated in colour or composition (montage, collage, retouching etc.) to differ from the original. Re-sharpening and correction of the tonal value is also permitted.All participants must register for the competition by completing the official entry form below.
- Competition winners may be required to participate in publicity arising from this competition.
- A winner will be picked for each of the four seasons from the following three categories;
- A Working Countryside
- Enjoying the Outdoors
- A Fresh Look at Nature
The entries must be submitted by the following dates for the four seasonal competitions;
- Autumn Monday 30th November 2009
- Winter Saturday 28th February 2010
- Spring Monday 31st May 2010
- Summer Tuesday 31st August 2010
All entries submitted on or before the closing dates will be judged and an overall winner from the seasonal winners will be selected with the help of a public vote by Friday 1st October 2010.
- The winning entries for each season will receive a £30 Jessops gift voucher. The overall winner will win a quality digital SLR camera.
- There is no limit to the number of photos each entrant can submit.
- Participants should keep copies of all material submitted as entries will not be returned.
- All entries must include a photo, a name identifying the location and a title identifying one of three categories; A Working Countryside, Enjoying the Outdoors or A fresh Look at Nature.
- Each entry:
- must be appropriate for display and publication online and should not be obscene or indecent (including but not limited to nudity, pornography or profanity), it must not contain defamatory statements (including but not limited to words or symbols that are widely considered offensive to individuals of a certain race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or socioeconomic group), it must not include threats to any person, place, business or group, it must not invade privacy or other rights of any person, firm or entity, and it must not in any other way violate applicable laws and regulations or network standards;
- must not contain reference to any third party trademarks or logos
- must not contain any copyrighted works (other than as owned by the entrant)
- Photos used in entries must not feature anyone under the age of 16 without parental permission.
- Each entry must be the entrant’s own work.
- Entrants should ensure that they have the consent of all persons appearing in any photo being entered into this competition being used and published in the manner specified in these terms and conditions.
- By entering this competition, entrants grant the following rights;
- to the Promoter (defined below), an irrevocable, non-exclusive, royalty-free, world-wide licence to use, reproduce, alter, adapt or sub-licence any or all of the uploaded competition entries in any media in perpetuity for the purposes of (a) operating and promoting this competition on www.sulwathconnections.org (b) operating and promoting an exhibition and touring exhibition in connection with the competition, and (c) for non-commercial research, planning and archival purposes (which may include the production of a publication and distribution in any form of such research planning and archival material);
- It is a condition of the rights granted to each of the Promoter that they shall each in respect of their own permitted use of the submitted photographs attribute entrants as the authors of the photographs.
- Responsibility is not accepted for any entries lost, damaged or delayed as a result of network, computer hardware or software failures of any kind. Proof of uploading/sending entries is not proof of receipt. Physical copies of any entries submitted will become the property of the Promoter.
- Incomplete or corrupted entries or those not in accordance with these terms and conditions will not be considered.
- Should unforeseen circumstances require, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute any of the prizes for an alternative of equal or greater value. The Promoter’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. No cash alternative will be offered.
- Entrants shall indemnify and hold the Promoter and affiliates, officers, directors, agents, co-brander or other partners ("the Indemnitees") harmless from any claims, actions, proceedings, costs (including reasonable legal fees) and expenses brought or asserted by a third party against any of the Indemnitees arising as a result of the permitted use of the entrant’s submission by the Promoter including but not limited to any breach of intellectual property rights set out in these terms and conditions.
- The Promoter reserves the right to delete or remove any published submissions from the website at any time without prior notice to entrants.
- By entering the competition, all entrants will be deemed to have accepted and be bound by these terms and conditions rules. All entry instructions form part of the terms and conditions.
- The winner will be notified within 28 days of the closing date. Parental permission to accept the prize will be required where the winner is under 16 years of age.

The selection process and prizes
The best picture in each of the three categories will be selected at the end of each of the four seasons, Autumn, Winter, Spring and Summer.
Don't worry - you don't have to be a professional photographer – but this is a chance for capturing your view of the character of Dumfries and Galloway
You will have the opportunity to participate by voting for your preferred photo at the close of the competition. At the end of the voting period (30th September 2010), the overall winner with the most votes will be announced in the grand final.
The three category winners for each season will win a £30 Jessops gift voucher and a six months free subscription to Dumfries & Galloway Life. The overall winner will receive a quality digital SLR camera and a years free subscription to Dumfries and Galloway Life.
